Case Study

Case Study: Tier III Data Centre

📍 London Docklands📐 1,200 m²🔧 Conductive epoxy ESD system with copper earthing grid

Challenge: A colocation data centre operator required ESD flooring for a new data hall build. The specification required a resistance to earth of 25kΩ–1MΩ (dissipative range) throughout the data hall, with a conductive system (< 1MΩ) in the UPS and battery rooms. Installation had to be completed before the raised access floor installation.

Solution: Dissipative epoxy ESD system with 20mm copper earthing grid at 1.2m centres throughout the data hall. Conductive epoxy system in UPS and battery rooms. Full IEC 61340 testing on completion with certificates provided for the client's Tier III certification submission.

Result: IEC 61340 compliance achieved on first test. Tier III certification obtained without floor-related non-conformances. The client has since specified the same system for two further data hall expansions.
